In December 2024, the artist formerly known as Dr. Soul made it official: he is now Jussoul. The name change is more than cosmetic — it represents a full artistic rebirth and a deeper connection to the music he was always meant to make.
Why the Change?
In a statement shared with fans, Jussoul explained that the transition reflects a commitment to authenticity. "Dr. Soul was who I was becoming. Jussoul is who I am," he said. The new name strips away the title and gets to the core — just soul, just him.
"This isn't a reinvention. It's a return. I'm going back to the most honest version of myself and letting that lead the music."
The Journey So Far
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Jussoul grew up selling goods on the streets before music became his path. He gained international visibility as a standout contestant on American Idol in 2021, and has since released singles including "Lucid Dreams" (2021), "Soul Fire" (2022), and "Hard Love" (2023), culminating in his debut EP The Younger Me in August 2024.
What Comes Next
The rebrand sets the stage for the most ambitious phase of his career yet — a new label deal, a debut studio album, and a live experience that is redefining what soul music looks and feels like in 2025.
